This weekend was a lazy weekend, which I haven't had in a while. You know - those weekends where you sleep in until noon (or later), eat breakfast by 2 pm, watch a movie until 5 and then maybe take a shower if you intend of going out into public. Greg and I really needed one of those, so this weekend we relaxed and watched two of the three Lord of the Rings movies and ate bagels.
The one thing we did was go see Katarina Jerinic's new project at Grid Space. Greg has known Katarina for a long time now and she was actually one of his professors in college, so he was really excited to see her new work. Her art is really thoughtful and sometimes technical, but it also has a great sense of humor. You should really check out her website for previous installations and projects.

Oy - this is a obviously cell phone pictures, so I apologize for the grainy quality.
Grid Space is actually a studio, but the owner uses the store front as a 24/7 gallery space. The window is set up in a grid - hence the name - and all the artists who show work there must fit their project into the grid provided. It's kind of a cool concept because the art is always on display. There are no gallery hours because the art is in the window, so anyone just walking by can see it!
Anyway, the owner of the space renovated the back of the building into a little yard with a patio, which in NYC is a real perk. I took advantage by shooting a quick outfit pic next to this metal sculpture. I don't know anything about it other than it appears to be made of two street sign posts welded together. Art!
I hope you all had a nice weekend too - hopefully it was more active than mine :)

Cell phone photos are ok in my book. They actually add that grainy, vintage effect which I think is so cool! I want my own pair of Swedish Hasbeens! :D
