Fort Tryon Park & The Cloisters

This outfit has been a summer staple. It's super easy and the jumper is huge so it's nice and breezy. Plus it goes with every single one of my striped shirts, and if you must know I have quite a collection.

My friend Mike spent three weeks in New York working for the people who help tune and maintain those public pianos you may have heard about or seen around town. He had a personal mission to see as many of the pianos as possible during the three short weeks he was working, so he ended up traveling all over the five boroughs. Mike discovered a lot of cool neighborhoods and parks by doing this, but his favorite place was Ft. Tryon Park, which is where The Cloisters are.

I have had numerous discussions about The Cloisters, but had never been and didn't really know what it was to be honest. It's a museum owned by the Met and houses medieval European art and architecture. We didn't explore the museum really (other than the bathrooms), but we did walk around the park for a few hours.

It might be the most beautiful place in Manhattan. It's waaaaaayyyy up on the north west side and it feels like you are miles away from a big city once you get to the top. It's really quiet and I'm not sure if we just lucked out, but there weren't very many people around. There are tons of gardens and grassy nooks and knolls to hang out on. We picked a spot under some trees and played cards for a while. So relaxing. If you ever visit NYC, and have time to get up there... it's worth the trip.
