IFB Evolving Influence Wrap Up and PSKF Article

My good friend, Laura occasionally writes for PSFK and she just wrote a piece about the IFB Conference! She probably did a better job than I ever could since this is her profession so I'll leave it up to her, but I think she says it perfectly:

"From being last year’s niche applications, to this year’s key discussion topics, there’s no denying the elephant in the room: the fashion world and its players must learn to embrace social media, along with the bloggers who are pioneering it, or face irrelevancy."

Here! here!

The real reason this is exciting is because I took the pictures she used for the article, and little ol' me gets credited down at the bottom. Hurray!

Also, if you haven't already seen this great video of Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler, then take a peek below. It really was one of the highlights of the day!

IFB also has their own terrific wrap ups about the conference here and here.

Outfit Post: Warming up

It was 60 degrees in NYC on Friday. A total tease since now there is a fresh coat of snow on the ground. Anyway, I was able to wear flats without socks and my lighter coat. It was amazing!

Scarf: handmade, Christmas gift from my mom
Coat: Urban
Bag: Coach via Ebay
Silk Shirt: Savers
Cardigan and Jeans: Madewell
Shoes: A.P.C. via super sale at Urban

One more note: These shoes are the first A.P.C. item I own and I LOVE THEM. They were a Valentine's Day gift from Greg and lucky for both of us, they were on super sale. Originally $225, on sale for $79.99 online, but instore they were less than $60. Out of control!

I almost feel like Annabel from Blushing Ambition with her Buffalo Exchange Rachel Comey boots - almost.

Murray's Bagels

Sometimes a girl just needs to have breakfast for dinner. In this case a whole wheat everything bagel with veggie cream cheese from Murray's Bagel's - one of the best bagel joints in NYC.

St. James tee and cardigan: Madewell

Clearly I think pictures of myself shoving food that is too big for my face into my mouth is hilarious.

Coat and scarf: J.Crew
Bag: 10 ft. by Stella Dallas
Jeans: J Brand Bardots via Beacon's Closet (best find ever!)
Shoes: MG Vintage on Etsy

I've finally gone through all my photos from the IFB Conference so I will have some to share with you very, very soon! A million apologies about the lengthy delay :(

I envy ladies who can pull off a jump suit like this without looking like they belong on the staff of the Public Works Department. When they do pull it off, it's always effortless and they look cooler than everyone.

Outfit Post: IFB Conference

(pardon my goofy face!)

Shirt: Madewell
Belt: J.Crew
Pleated Skirt: thrifted at Savers
Bracelet: Banana Republic from forever ago
Shoes (which you can't see): Madewell

Amazing doesn't even begin to describe the IFB Conference yesterday! Jennine and the entire team who put the event together just did an incredible job. I met so many amazing bloggers and I am feeling extremely motivated and excited about my aspirations for this blog. I hope that I can run with those feelings and really elevate this to where I want it to be.

I have what feels like a million pictures from the event that I need to go through, so stay tuned for another post about IFB!

Independent Fashion Bloggers Evolving Influence Conference

I am super excited to be attending The Independent Fashion Bloggers Evolving Influence Conference tomorrow! All of the panel discussions sound amazing and I can't wait to see some of my favorite bloggers like Rebecca, Keiko Lynn and Karla talk about about their blogging experiences.

I think one reason conferences like this are so great is that you are surrounded by your peers who face the same obstacles as you when it comes to being part of the blogosphere. These girls are so helpful, sweet and supportive that it gives me hope and motivation for my own blogging aspirations.

I plan on bringing a camera so hopefully I will have some kind of recap post for you in the coming days!

Leah Goren

I came across Leah through my friend Diwa. She showed up to work one day wearing this little number and I had to ask where she got it because it's so freaking cute. She told me her good friend made it for her and that she makes a lot of other really adorable things that I would probably love. Of course she was right!

I think if I could have any item in her shop it would have to be the Black Cat Print Dress. I love that each dress is hand made and printed by Leah herself and you can specify the length and measurements you want. It makes each dress totally unique and special.

I would keep it just as it is, but since I am a little taller than the uber petite Leah, I would probably request it to be knee length. I would wear it right now with a cozy black and white marled sweater, knit tights and my Hasbeen clogs. Once spring rolls around I would pair it with little brown oxfords and my cropped jean jacket. Summer time would call for just some strappy flat sandals and my woven straw bucket bag. Sigh.

I also love Leah's prints and drawings which you can see more of on her website. She also has a great blog, where she showcases her sketches, drawings new projects and photos from her various travels. I know I'm a subscriber, but you should be too!
